Schoenaich Rees were retained to develop the masterplan for five garden rooms within the former kitchen garden of Marks Hall Estate, Essex. This walled garden is a unique space in that its sloped surface is bordered on three sides by fine 18th century walls, with the fourth leading on to a lake. The picture on the left shows the garden during construction. The annual meadow, shown on the right, was established as a temporary landscape during the construction phase. These five new gardens now form a focal point for the arboretum with its extensive tree collection.
